Answer first: A South African VA does not sit a full Pacific 9-to-5 from a normal SA day. 9am PT is already ~6–7pm SAST. Comfortable live cover is morning through about 2–3pm PT. Getting that far is later on our clock — and those later SA hours still run at standard rates through midnight SAST (midnight SAST ≈ 2pm PT in winter / 3pm PT in summer).
